National Bike Challenge

As the College continues to celebrate Earth Week, I want to encourage you to carry the momentum of the cause throughout the summer by riding a bicycle.

Please consider participating in the 2013 National Bike Challenge, a free and fun program to help people across the U.S. improve their health, save on transportation, and protect the environment. The Challenge is a free and easy way to challenge yourself and the Ripon College community to ride more while competing on a local, state and national level.

The program runs for five months:  May 1, 2013 September 30, 2013. You can score points for yourself and for Ripon College simply by riding your bike. You can ride for transportation or recreation (though transportation rides score more points).

It is easy to sign up and easy to log your miles via the National Bike Challenge website: www.nationalbikechallenge.org/ When you create your account, you will be asked the name of your employer or college/university. Simply type in Ripon College and your miles will add up for our total.

Last year, Lawrence University outscored us. In the interest of friendly competition (AND BRAGGING RIGHTS), we’re looking for more riders to join our team for 2013. By logging your miles, you are also eligible for prizes ( http://www.endomondo.com/campaign/national/prizes ). The grand prize is a new bicycle from Trek.

Thank you for your consideration. I hope to see you out on your bike soon.
