Ripon College students and Ripon community members traveled to Panama once again to assist Father Wally Kasuboski in building a dam so residents have access to fresh water.
"You always hear about water conservation but it never comes to life until you’re at a compound with limited access to it. After visiting Panama I have become more aware how it is so precious and how everyone needs it. I am able to monitor my water usage better; this continues to help me feel like I am helping those in need." --RC student
"The most important experience that I had in Panama was talking with Father Wally’s workers. They told me that they really appreciate and enjoy when we come down to help work on the dam. They talked about people that they know that actually receive water from the dam we helped build. This made me realize that the work we did all week has a huge effect on so many people in the area." -- RC student
"The culture was focused on interactions between individuals as a typical meal consisted of about two hours, allowing for plenty of time to converse with one another. They were unconcerned about knowing what time it was, nor about self-centered objectives. From our travels throughout Panama, I learned what I wish to hold as my top priorities in life. I wish to continue to grow as an individual and this trip allowed me to observe routes for improvement." -- RC student
"I love the satisfaction of helping others but this trip really accentuates how one person can really make a difference and even more so in a group of dedicated workers that are willing to take time off to complete this dam. While talking with Father you really see how one person can really make a difference, the thing that he has accomplished in that village and the lives he has changed is so inspiring." -- RC student
