As fall continues to present itself with colorful leaves and brisk breezes, make sure to keep an eye out for tiny goblins, pint-sized superheroes, and wobbling princesses!
On October 25, from 5-7 PM, the 5th Annual Tiny Terror on the Square will take place in downtown Ripon. This event is a safe, family-focused, Halloween extravaganza presented by the Office of Community Engagement at Ripon College. Tiny Terror on the Square is located on the 100 block of Watson Street. The rain location for the event is at Ripon Public Library. Many of the stores on this block are extending business hours and offering a safe trick-or-treating option to the participants.
Tiny Terror on the Square hosts a variety of activities. From pumpkin painting, button coloring and making, and face-painting to pumpkin bowling, a variety of interactive games with prizes, and a costume contest, participants and their families have plenty to do. There are also hayrides for all, and Alpha Delta Pi, a sorority at Ripon College, is providing free cocoa and apple cider throughout the night.
“Tiny Terror is aimed at young children,” shares Sherri Krier, a Ripon College senior in charge of organizing the event. “It's a time for them to come together, play, and enjoy a fun, safe Halloween event.” All children in the community who are in sixth grade or are younger are invited to the event. Upon registration, each child receives a drawstring backpack with a free pumpkin coupon, tickets to the games, and free entrance into the costume parade. Tiny Terror “brings people in the community as well as from the college together,” Krier notes. “I love this event because I love Halloween. The children are also one of my favorite parts. [I get to] go to all the schools and interact with the kids.”
The cost of the event is $5 per child if registration is entered before Friday, October 19. Registration will continue at the rate of $10 per child until 5 PM on October 24. Registration will be available onsite for $10 per child, but it is recommended all participants pre-register to reserve their free drawstring souvenir bag. Registration forms have been delivered to all Ripon elementary and middle schools and the Chamber of Commerce. They may be returned to school offices or mailed to: Office of Community Engagement-Ripon College, Attn: Tiny Terror, 300 Seward St, PO Box 248, Ripon, WI 54971
