Friends, family, significant others...whether it’s your first Valentine’s Day together or your fiftieth, this year give a belated gift that LITERALLY comes from the heart.
The Ripon College Office of Community Engagement will be hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Monday, February 20 from 10am-4pm in Great Hall.
Do you ever get nervous about donating blood and wish you had someone to hold your hand? I do. Throughout history human kind has shown affection by holding hands. Be it a friendly greeting, a sign of reassurance, or an amorous gesture, hand holding has come to be recognized as an almost universal gesture of respect, compassion and support.
This February, show someone you care by holding their hand while they donate blood.

Celebrate a belated Valentines Day by donating blood at Ripon College’s bi-annual Red Cross Blood Drive. Bring someone along to hold your hand while you are giving blood and, if they sign up for an appointment too, you will both be entered into a drawing to win a $25.00 gift certificate to We Proudly Brew Starbucks here on campus.
As the Beatles crooned in October of 1963, “Oh yeah, I’ll tell you something, I think you’ll understand, I wanna hold your hand....I wanna hold your hand.” Perhaps they conceived the lyrics while donating blood...Or not. It’s fun to imagine though, isn’t it? Come on. You know you thought about it.
